An attempt to explain: Whenever this person (A) loses his temper, his entire body heats up because anger makes the body very acidic and that can burn the cells. In order for the body to protect itself, it will draw calcium, magnesium, sulphur and potassium in his body to cool down the acidic environment. However, if A is already deficit of these minerals, a sudden outburst could no longer draw on the already deficit minerals. In this circumstance, the body send signals for ‘cooling’ stuff to cool down the body. Since, A is unaware of what the body needs, the only thing that A can think of to ‘cool’ the body is by drinking ice-cold water – which is not what the body wants in the first place. Ice-cold water does not contain the minerals that can cool down the body though it gives the momentary cooling effect and the illusion of feeling normal (the source of the anger still exist, just momentarily suppressed).
I remember it was mentioned in the forum that cold water is bad for us, but I cannot remember the details. Cold water constricts the blood vessels? Anyone else to share?
