What could the deeper underlying cause of recurring mouth ulcer ?

I recall one of my friends who has a habit of scolding people consistently being plagued by mouth ulcers...

Seems like swift retribution in action - constantly scolding others lead to frequent mouth ulcers forming, when one is angy, this mounting anger probably is burning up the body and came out as sores.
