Our issues are reflective of ourselves

Postby Justion » Wed Oct 15, 2014 5:25 pm

Is it true that our issues are all reflective of ourselves or the actions that we had executed in the past?

It seems that a lot of issues I am facing, such as my resentments and regrets are reflective of what I did, and who I was in the past - toward others.

As though that the situations were all arranged at the forefront to make me reflect about myself and what I did to others… =(

Hi Justion,

just a spot of sharing, it's great that you can reflect and pinpoint where and when one has said or done some not too nice things to others. all of us do that, being judgmental is a good example. it is after knowing, what and how do we want to resolve them, with application of 3 P's. and if i'm not wrong, when a similar situation presents itself, and we no longer react negatively, we have successfully resolved that particular issue. however, the test is consistency and as the School shared with us, once we have learnt our lessons, we move on to tackle other issues. hope it's helpful.

Thank you Jujur14!

I feel that I am able to discern my issues and let go of the compulsion to think about them constantly by reflecting upon myself.

How others must've felt when I did this or that to them in the past.

And I am quite happy to have gotten hold of this ability to understand issues this way, I do not know if it's a definite solution but I felt better being able to relate to another person's emotions from the past and put myself in the shoes of those who are deliberately (or not) causing distress to me now.

Now that I know that forgiveness, isn't only directed to whoever who've hurt you but toward yourself as well.

It's true that most of us are constantly externalising instead of internalising and reflecting. and generally, we try to forgive others but forget ourselves which is also equally important. we ought to learn to let go more and not be too obsessive of how others ought to meet our expectations. i suppose that's part of the meaning of being accepting of others and changing the habit of judging others. ah, that's kindness. when we're able to do this consistently in almost all circumstances, we'll be able to manage our energy tanks very well as well as maintaining a high sense of clarity. hope it helps.
