A practitioner asked if he could burn dried white sage leaves to cleanse crystals. Please share your views. tq!

Burning sage leaves is a form of shamanistic practice that's normally done by the Red Indians, it's a form of cleansing. They also burn the leaves to cleanse homes. That being the case, it may clash with CLT practice since there's an imprint when one performs this type of cleansing ritual. I may be wrong. Please correct. Practitioners have been asked to wash the crystals under running tap water, that ought to suffice, no?
